Why you don’t want to miss Mentorthon 2024

In May 2024, I’ll be part of mentors, who will spend 40+ hours, with 9,000 students, from 130+- schools on a mentorship marathon @mentorthon.

Now I tell you why!

“In 2003, while at form four, a lady called Penina, then a 4th year student at Kenyatta University, came to my high school, Chebara Highschool and spoke to us, about her dreams. She spoke to us about university life and doors into our future. She related to us the life of Dr. Ben Carson and his journey to Top World surgeon, a journey made possible by hard work and education. She just did not speak to us about her dreams; she ended up speaking to us, and to me particularly about my own dreams. She spoke about the abilities that I had not thought I had. She helped me shed the temptation to just perform average in my exams. She spoke about a world possible if, we worked hard and were determined to look for excellence. I was just a kid who had schooled in Marakwet district, with limited exposure. This was the first term of my final year in Chebara Secondary School. That year, in my graduating KSCE class for the first time in the history of the whole school we had 4A minus students, 20 B+’s and many B’s.

I can’t attribute this success to just the visit of Penina, but more visits by other people, our hard work and other reasons. One thing I am sure of is that that visit changed my life and the lives of my friends. Can you Join us at #Mentorthon?
