As young people migrate to urban areas to pursue education and look for income opportunities, most communities suffer a role model drain. Young people start to lack role models. Mentorthon is an effort to reverse role model drain.
Research done at Strathmore Business School led by Dr. Raul Figueroa & Tim Kipchumba (unpublished) revealed that youth who participated in PEV in 2007 elections had a weak relationship between their effort and the things they desired in life.
In 2016, we begun Mentorthon as countrywide call for brands, professionals, entrepreneurs and leaders to give 42 hours annually to mentor high school students.
Mentorthon helps students develop self- belief and self-control through role modelling, storytelling and content, while reversing role model drain, driving brand engagement and building a value driven volunteering platform.
We are a platform combining mentors, brands, content, fun and technology to create a platform to inspire, encourage, mentor and develop capacity in young people.
